Joan McAllister Littlefield
Joan Elizabeth McAllister Littlefield passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Corry Hospital. She was born in Warren, Pa. on February 15, 1934 to Harland McAllister and Dorothy Johnson McAllister. She married Charles Richard Littlefield on March 19, 1953 at the Irvine Presbyterian Church; he preceded her in death on November 13, 1982. Joan was a member of the Youngsville High School class of 1952. Joan worked for Quality Markets as a cashier for many years and was a member of the Irvine Presbyterian Church.
Joan grew up in Youngsville and lived the past 66 years in the home that they built together. Over the years Joan was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and matriarch of the family. Joan loved her flowers and was especially fond of her rose garden. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to have family parties; she cherished her Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions, and having picnics at the creek. Joan was so proud of her family and celebrated the accomplishments of her great grandchildren through videos and pictures. Her life was filled with the adventures of being the mother of five children. Her greatest joy was vacations on the beaches of Maine and watching the kids play in the waves and sand.
Joan is survived by four daughters: Deborah Foy (KC), Priscilla Knupp (Michael), Barbara Mourer (David), and Cynthia Huff (James). Eight grandchildren: Mandy Chase (Joshua), Heather Bartins (Tom), Samantha Reed (Ben), Rebecca Foy, Shawn Littlefield, Adam Mourer (Savanna), Lisa Johnson, Kristy Fry (Tyler). Eleven Great Grandchildren: Annika, Reagan, and Carson Chase, Bailey and Connor Reed, McClane and Chloe Bartins, Eric and Walter Mourer, Dylan Johnson, and Terry “TJ” Sumrow. They were the joy of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Richard McAllister of Ashtabula OH, sister in law, Zelma McAllister of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her beloved son, Patrick “Rick” Richard Littlefield, her lovable grandson, Eric David Mourer, a brother Alan McAllister and her parents Harland and Dorothy McAllister.
Friends will be received at the Irvine Presbyterian Church, Sarah Duncan Irvine Educational building on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 4 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Irvine Presbyterian Church.
