David Schweigert

David D. Schweigert, 89, formerly of Marion St., Corry, Pa., died Monday, December 3, 2018, at the Corry Manor.

He was born February 1, 1929 in Newfane, N.Y., a son of the late George and Mabel Denton Schweigert.

Dave was raised and educated in Barker, N.Y., and graduated from Barker Central School in 1946. Following graduation, he attended Myer Memorial Hospital for Nurses and graduated as a registered nurse in 1951. He then worked at Roswell Memorial Park before moving to Erie where he was employed at Hamot Medical Center. In 1959, Dave moved to Pittsburgh and attended St. Francis School of Anesthesia and graduated from there in 1960. He moved to Corry in 1961 and began working at Corry Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the West Spring Creek Congregational Church. For over 40 years, Dave was a hunter/trapper education instructor and for 27 years he was Deputy WCO for the PA Game Commission. In addition, he held various offices in the Spring Creek Congregational Church, the Spring Creek Sportsman’s Club and the Corry Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed woodworking, carving, reading, hunting, fishing, painting and leather work.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death on October 30, 2012, by his wife, Harriett Lonnen Schweigert, whom he married August 12, 1949 in Buffalo, N.Y., and children Edward and Margaret Schweigert in infancy.

Dave is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Kent and her husband Don of Corry, Pa.; two sons, David Schweigert and his wife Catherine of Girard, Pa., and Frank Schweigert and his wife Beverly of Blairsville, Pa.; six grandchildren, Cole Schweigert, Blake Schweigert and fiancÈ Megan Peterson, Rebecca Hunter (Zackary), Pastor Jillian Jones (Justin), Breanna Wilson (Eric) and Denton Williams; two greatgrandchildren, Kaylee Wilson and Josiah Jones and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 68 pm. A funeral service will be held there on Saturday at 11 am with Rev. Michael Sperry officiating.

Burial will be in West Spring Creek Cemetery, W. Spring Creek, Pa.
