Birte Retterer

Birte was born January 8, 1927 in Denmark, the daughter of the late Hans and Johanna (Paulsen) Thomas.

She was employed by the Warren Times Observer as a Journeyman Printer for over twentyeight years, from which she retired. Birte enjoyed her family, her friends, picnics, and especially her grandchildren. Birte also loved to read. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Canada, and her husband George, Jamestown, NY; five sons, Dennis Lane and wife Nancy, Pittsburgh, PA, Gary Lane and wife Susan, Rodney Retterer, Brian Retterer and wife Darla, and Kieth Retterer, all of Clarendon, PA, a brother Thomas Handest, Warren, PA; ten grandchildren; twenty six greatgrandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Birte was preceded in death by a sister, Mary McHenry: two granddaughters, Jamie Sue Retterer, and Jamie Marie Retterer, a and a nephew, Colt Handest.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA 16365 on Tuesday, June 19, from 10am until 12 noon, at which time a funeral will be held there, with Pastor Neil Arthur, Victory Baptist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clarendon Volunteer fire Department,17 N. Main Street, Clarendon, PA 16313

Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
