Shirley Morelli

Shirley Yvonne Haupt Morelli, formerly of Russell, Pa., passed away on May 9, 2018. She was born March 3, 1935. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Elsie and Basil Spaulding. She is survived by her husband, Paul, her children, Jill Rodgers, Gina (husband Tom), Tony (Laura) Morelli, Melissa (Chris) Sundberg and Heather (Jason) Morrison, as well as five grandchildren, Paul, Audra, Sinjin, Ben, Fionna and Jack and two great grandchildren, Koa and Nikoli. She is also survived by her brother Richard (Jean) Haupt and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a devout Jehovah’s Witness all of her adult life and her faith was important to her. She enjoyed spending time in ministry.

Shirley grew up in Pleasantville, Pa., graduating in a very small class from Pleasantville High School, of which she always spoke fondly.

She married Paul in 1958 and together they raised five children. Shirley enjoyed sewing beautiful clothes for her children when they were small and passed her skills on to them as they grew. She loved recounting comical tales of her kids’ antics. She canned tomatoes and peaches and made jam. She loved to sit on the porch and watch a summer thunderstorm. During the heyday of doortodoor Avon sales, Shirley spread her smile and samples through the neighborhoods of Conewango Ave.

She spent many happy hours visiting with her dear friend Nancy and often enjoyed a cup of tea (or two) with her sister in law, friend and neighbor, Jean. Shirley truly enjoyed time with family. Many funfilled evenings were spent with Izzy & Ernie and all the kids. She loved to play pinochle with Paul and Kay & John or Mom & Bas. The laughter was endless on those evenings.

Shirley will be sadly missed by family and friends. Services will be arranged at the convenience of the family.
