Raymond Groves
Raymond F. “Kayo” Groves, 66, of Fiddler Hill Road in Youngsville, PA passed away January 21, 2018 at the home of his good friends, William and Brenda VanGuilder.
He was born July 26, 1951 in Meadville, PA to the late Raymond H. Groves and Isabelle (Green) Groves who survives him. Kayo was a 1969 YHS graduate and worked at REA as a lineman for 38 years. He was a member of the Carroll Rod and Gun Club in Frewsburg, NY, the Sugar Grove American Legion, AMVETS Post #50 and the Busti Mens Club. Kayo spent a lot of his time at Stateline Speedway where he enjoyed dirt track racing along with traveling to many other tracks with friends. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, cutting firewood, cooking, grilling and a good game of cards. Most of all, Kayo loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a genuinely nice guy who was always lending a hand to people.
In addition to his mother, Kayo is survived by his two children, Tara Baker of Youngsville, PA and John (Tinily) Groves of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister, Ann Marie (Chuck) Stroud of Clarendon, PA; a brother, Paul Groves and his companion, Nancy Reynolds, of Youngsville, PA; his grandchildren, Madison Baker, Braydon Baker, Patrick Groves and Brody Groves; his step-grandchildren, Trevor Martin, Breece Binkley and Miranda Binkley; several inlaws and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Groves and a soninlaw Michael Baker.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26 at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis Street, Youngsville, PA 16371 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, the Hospice of Warren County, PO Box 68, Warren, Pa 16365 or to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, 8085 Saltsburg Road, Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15239.
