Hazel M. Bull, 105, formerly of Corry, Pa., passed away at the Rouse Home on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
She was born August 18, 1912 in Wrightsville, Freehold Township, Pa., a daughter to the late Luther and Emily Sandberg Johnson.
Hazel attended Wrightsville and Lottsville schools, graduating from Lottsville High School in 1930. She played basketball in high school and remembered traveling by train to Tidioute for games. While still in high school, Hazel took over the household duties, caring for her father and siblings after her mother passed away.
She was a great stay at home mom, always caring for her family. Hazel was known for her baking and cooking skills and did so until she was ninety. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies were gardening, crocheting, playing solitaire, watching baseball games on TV and she was a whiz at crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death on December 3, 2002, by her husband, Arden Bull whom she married on July 8, 1933, in Chandlers Valley, Pa.; also by a daughter, Helen Ward; a son, Robert Bull; a sister, Dora Hajnik,; four brothers Lyle, Raymond, Glenn and Ivan Johnson; and a grandson James Ward.
Hazel is survived by two daughters, Mary Shannon and her husband Lyle of Corry, Pa., and Ardeth Smackey and her husband Bruce of Garden City, Idaho; a son, Frank Bull and his wife Pegeen of Clymer, NY. and daughter-in-law Shirley Bull of Garland, Pa., also by twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the memorial service there at 11 am. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate.
Burial will be in Berea Lutheran Cemetery, Wrightsville, Pa.
