Donald Wester

Donald E. “Dean” Wester, Sr., 82, of Warren, died Monday, July 24, 2017, at his home. Dean was born November 2, 1934, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Enar and Bertha (Johnson) Wester.

Following graduation from Warren High School in 1952, Dean served in the US Army as a Paratrooper during the Korean War. For many years, Dean owned and operated his own sawmill, and later worked for the Warren State Hospital, from which he retired. In his younger years, Dean enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Madolyn J. (Howard) Wester, whom he married June 16, 1956, in Sheffield, PA; one son, Donald E. Wester, Jr., of Warren; one daughter, Jennifer A. Blake, and husband, Jefferson, also of Warren; four siblings, John Wester, Sr., of Clarendon, Eleanor “Toot” Larsen, of Warren, Carol McArthur, of Chandlers Valley, and Kathy Pescha, of Warren; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jacob Blake; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Thursday, July 27, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there with The Rev. Lawrence Scofield, interim pastor, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, officiating.

Military honors will be provided by members of the Sheffield & Clarendon VFW Honor Guard. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
