Gregg Bimber

Gregg LaMonte Bimber, 67, of Pittsfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic, after a short illness.

Gregg was born July 15, 1949 in Warren, a son to the late Stanley and Wanda (Wineriter) Bimber. He started working on Dave Anderson’s farm in Scandia as soon as he could get working papers, and continued to do so until he graduated. Gregg graduated from Warren Area High School in 1967, where he was on the football and wrestling teams. He worked at Interlectric Corp. and the National Forge . He then went to SUNY in Fredonia where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. Gregg worked at Jamestown General Hospital for a short period and later worked as a Union Heavy Highway Carpenter, retiring from there in 2006.

He married the love of his life, his wife of 30 years, Pamela Robinson Bimber on August 2, 1986 at Grace United Methodist Church in Warren. Gregg loved to dance with his wife, camp, and spend time with his family. He enjoyed playing cribbage and watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, which was his favorite team. He enjoyed racing motocross in the 70’s and scuba diving in the Florida Keys. Gregg was also an accomplished musician, playing the bass guitar for many bands, beginning when he was in high school. He had the opportunity to play in the orchestra for the musical, Jesus Christ Superstar at the Library Theater. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and canning. He was a member of the AMVETS of Sugar Grove and Moose Lodge of Warren. Gregg was devoted to his family and friends and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and anyone that needed it. He will be sadly missed by many.

In addition to his wife, Gregg is survived by his children, Gregg (Misty) Bimber, Jr. of Russell, Brenda (John) Perrin of Yadkinville, N.C. his sister, Cinda (John) Tarr of North Warren, 3 brothers, Denny (Nancy) Bimber of Scandia, Rod (Ronda) Bimber of Seneca, Tim (Betti Jo) Bimber of Scandia, his grandchildren, Dana Bimber, Lisa (John) Emahizer, Rachel Bimber, Marissa and Nicole Perrin, 3 great granddaughters, Kaylee, Chloe, and Brooklyn Emahizer , his motherinlaw, Ingeborg Robinson, sistersinlaw, Becky (Ted) Laird and Darlene (Lee) Johnson, and his faithful companion and buddy dog, Schatzie, as well as several aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Elaine (Kramer) Bimber in 2012 and fatherinlaw, Clinton A. Robinson in 2014.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday June 23rd at 5 pm at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Pittsfield with the Rev. Steve Gruver, pastor, officiating. Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the service.
