Raymond Kane

Raymond L. Kane, 76, of Brown Hill Rd., Youngsville, passed away peacefully Friday December 30, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Ray was born September 14, 1940 in Russell, a son of the late Richard and Catherine (Lucks) Kane. Devoted father and grandfather, and faithful husband to his wife of 50 years Melcenia “Mel” Rose (Bachko) Kane, whom he married August 13, 1961 in Warren, and whom preceded him in death on June 13, 2011. Ray served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965 and then went on to work for Penelec at the power station in Starbrick as an electrician for 30 years. He enjoyed playing baseball in his earlier days and then went on to play softball in the Navy, the Penelec league and summer leagues. He was a member of Youngsville Evangelical United Methodist Church, the Youngsville American Legion Post #658. Ray enjoyed wrestling, bowling, golfing, was an avid hunter and was a master gardener, obtaining the selfproclaimed title of “best tomato grower east of the Mississippi.” Ray also enjoyed the company of his faithful canine companion “Buddy”.  Ray was recently baptized in May of this year by his son, daughter, and daughterinlaw. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Ray is survived by 2 sons: Rev. Raymond (Robin) Kane of Findlay, OH, Brian Kane of Youngsville, a daughter: Lois (Tom) Rosenberg of Youngsville, his grandchildren: Alex and Mary Beth Kane, Luke Willingham and Lauryn WillinghamLopez, Alyssa Stoddard and Tanner and Taylor Rosenberg, a great granddaughter, Annastasya Lopez, his sibling’s: Helen Scalise of Warren, Nancy (William) Lyons of Warren, Harold (Karen) Kane of Warren, Richard Kane of Youngsville, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ray was preceded in death by a sister Janice Hawks and a brother Donald Kane.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 37 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main St. in Youngsville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the EUM Church in Youngsville at 11 am with the Rev. Rick Nelson, officiating pastor. Burial will follow in the Garland Presbyterian Cemetery.
