Alice Farnsworth
Alice S. Farnsworth, 100, of 7 Willow Street, Sheffield, died on January 12, 2017, after a short terminal illness.
Mrs. Farnsworth was born in Murfreesboro, Tn., on January 24, 1916. daughter of the late Alfred Sundell and the late Ida Maria Johnson Sundell.
With her family, Alice moved to Kane, Pa. as a child. She attended Kane schools and graduated valedictorian of her class. She was married to Clyde B. Farnsworth (deceased 2004) on August 20,1943.
In addition to her husband and grandparents, she was preceded in death by two halfsisters; Mary Gustafson and Anna Sundell; one sister, Louise I. Sundell; three brothers Rudolph (in childhood), Philip, and Nobel Sundell; a greatgranddaughter, Marissa Rowan; and a greatgrandson, Tyler Lee Rowan.
She is survived by a son, Burnell A. Farnsworth and his wife, Marsha, Sheffield, Pa.; a daughter, Sherill M. Lloyd and her husband Frank, Topton, Pa.; a daughter, Rebecca R. Sixt and her husband John, Sheffield, Pa.; ten grandchildren; twenty greatgrandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Farnsworth’s places of employment included the former Holgate Company, Kane Shirt Factory, Royal Neighbors of America, and the Sheffield Cemetery Association.
An avid Bible reader and researcher, she was a longtime member of the Congregation of Jehova’s Witnesses, Warren, Pa. Family relationships were her first priority and remained so up until her death. Over the years, her hobbies included extensive reading of nonfiction and solving the most challenging crossword puzzles that she could find.
Burial arrangements will be handled by the Borden Funeral Home, Sheffield, Pa. Interment will be in the Sheffield Cemetery. There are no memorial service arrangements at this time.
