Helen Godenschwager

Helen Marie (Karl) Godenschwager, 88, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 16, 2016, with her caregivers, daughter Karla and soninlaw Rob Patterson by her side.

Helen Marie was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 28, 1928. She was the daughter of George and Elsie Karl. Helen Marie was raised in Pittsburgh and then moved to Marienville. She graduated from Marienville High School in 1946.

She married Ralph Godenschwager on December 5, 1964. Together they raised her two children, Darryl & Karla, with much love and devotion. She is survived by her children, son, Darryl (Duke) Fiscus of Warren and daughter, Karla (Fiscus) Patterson, and husband, Rob, of Marienville, two grandsons, Josh Fiscus, and wife, Laura, of Salvo, NC and Shea Patterson of Marienville, two greatgranddaughters, Madison and Chloe Fiscus, from Salvo, NC. She is also survived by a niece, Melanie Wolf, of Pittsburgh, PA, and a nephew, Richard Russell of Minneapolis, MN, and special cousins, Deborah George, of Trinity, FL and Ginger Rockenstein, of Pittsburgh, PA. She took great comfort in the company of her dogs, Bella, who has gone on before her, and Ginger, who survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, sister and brotherinlaw, Jean and John Russell.

Helen Marie devoted her entire life to her family. She was very creative and doing hair was her second love. She worked as a Cosmetologist in Marienville for about 35 years. She was of Presbyterian faith. She loved travelling, arranging flowers, cooking, reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and needle point. She decorated many special cakes for her family. Making candy for the holidays with her family was an occasion we all looked forward to and enjoyed immensely.

To honor her wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Family and friends made extra efforts to spend quality time with her. Enjoying our memories is what we all wanted while she was living with us.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. Friends and family may send online condolences and obtain additional information by visiting www.goblefh.net.
