Annis Ziegler

She was born June 8, 1927 in Endeavor, Pennsylvania, to the late Alton “Springer” and Effie Zuendel Hall. She graduated from Hickory Township High School in Endeavor and earned her nursing degree from Oil City Hospital School of Nursing as part of the WWII Cadet Nursing Program and was a licensed RN in Pennsylvania and California. She worked as a private duty nurse for the Wheeler Family in Forest County, Pennsylvania; Farley Family in California and at Bellefonte and Warren, Pennsylvania hospitals. Annis was a Girl Scout troop leader, camp leader, cookie chairman and recipient of the “Thanks Badge” and member of the Tidioute Presbyterian Church, Endeavor American Legion Auxiliary and Forest Grange. She had a passion for and supported numerous charities.

Annis married Bruce E. Ziegler on September 3, 1949 in Endeavor, who survives her, and during their 66 year marriage she worked beside him on their farm, Christmas tree lot, oil lease and enjoyed many miles of travel on family vacations and later acquiring items for their Simpler Times Museum during which she accumulated her collection of 207 tea pots. She had a passion for flower gardening, bird watching and working jig saw puzzles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Edward (Rini) of Houston, Texas, John (Carol) and James (Kristie), both of Tidioute and by three daughters: Sally (Edward) Cottrell of Durham, North Carolina, Becky (Lonnie) Styles of Windber, Pennsylvania and Beth (Jeff Wagner) of Tidioute. Also surviving are a sister Nancy (Paul) Eck of Tionesta, Pennsylvania and brothers Alton (Susan) Hall, Jr. of Endeavor and David (Pat) Hall of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Annis was devoted to and mentored ten grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, siblings, Mike, Bill, Gene, Gary and Judy preceded her in death.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 27,2015 from 1 to 3 PM at the Tidioute Presbyterian Church, 196 Main Street, Tidioute, Pennsylvania followed by a memorial service at 3 P.M. Burial will be in Swedish Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department, 224 Main Street, Tidioute, Pennsylvania 16351.
