William Kidd
William Everett Kidd Jr passed away on August 14, 2015 at Cambridge of Warren where he made his home for the past year.
He was born at home in Jamestown on August 18, 1919 to William E. Sr and Mabel Eckendorf Kidd.
Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman, participating in the 2014 big game season. A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) he was also a competition marksman competing in shooting events worldwide both as a civilian and while in the Navy. Always a sportsman, he played an active role in establishing and supporting local gun and sportsman clubs. He was a member and past president of the Chautauqua County Trial Riders, was retired from American Sterilizer (AMSCO), and was a charter member of the Chautauqua Lake Association. He was a member of the greatest generation serving two separate enlistments during WWII.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife Mary Ellen Seekins Kidd; a son Pfc Phillip M. Kidd, who was killed in action in Vietnam; a daughter Daveen M. Frankson; four brothers Melvin, Robert, Roland and Norman Kidd; and a granddaughter Heather Ludovissy.
He is survived by one son, Kim Kidd (Rita) of Frewsburg; four daughters, Carol Luce (Randy) of Randolph and Holy Cross, IA; Christina Bishop (Fredric) of Fredericksburg, VA; Connie Dove (Gary) ; and Trudy Bloomquist (David) both of Frewsburg. Two step children Melanie Vebber (Gary) of Lakewood; Lance Johnson of Gray Georgia; one sister Patricia Crandall of Lakewood and his second wife Norma Johnson Kidd whom he married August 1, 1981.
He leaves 22 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren.
At his request no formal services will be observed. The Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Jamestown Rifle Club, 2882 BustiStillwater Road, Jamestown, NY. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
