A funeral service for Dorothy M. Bowser, 88, of the Rouse Home, who died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, was held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Youngsville. The Rev. Donald Wells, pastor of the Starbrick Community Church, officiated. Pallbearers for burial in Westview Cemetery in Starbrick were: Charles Hollingshead, Charles Olson, Troy Rex, Ben O’Neill Jr., Mike Fredricks and Gary Wood.

Dorothy M. (Smith) Bowser, 88, of the Rouse Home and formerly of Weiler Road in Starbrick, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
She was born March 14, 1927 in Warren, Pa., a daughter to the late Charles H. and Esther E. (Honhart) Smith Sr. Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Warren Area High School. She was former owner of Arctic Cat Sales and Services in Starbrick for 15 years. She was a member of the Starbrick Community Church and the Starbrick Fire hall Auxiliary. Dorothy also belonged to what her and her friends would call the “lunch bunch”. Dorothy enjoyed life, she absolutely loved raising her children, the outdoors, the sun, snowmobiling, farming and gardening. She enjoyed knitting, reading books, puzzles, word searches and she was a wonderful baker.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Denice (Charles) Hollingshead of Warren, Nora Edwards and her companion, Gary Wood, both of Warren and Lee A. Bowser of Youngsville; a sister, Pauline VanVolkinburg of Warren; her grandchildren, Brenda (David) Conrad of Virginia, Jessica (Troy) Rex of Warren, Kelly (Mike) Fredricks of Warren and Kim Rodgers and her companion, Ben O’Neill Jr., both of Warren; her greatgrandchildren, Claudia, Althea, Elsa Jane, Sydney, Gavin, Tyler, Alyssa, Abby, Ally and Emma Jo and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lee Bowser on June 21, 2001; a son, Kerry N. Bowser and her siblings, Robert Smith, Charles Jr. Smith, Allen Smith, Barbara Olson, Ruth Morris and Marjorie Flick.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main Street in Youngsville, from 10:0011:00am at which time a funeral service will be held with the Rev. Donald Wells, pastor of the Starbrick Community Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Starbrick.
