James Manelick

James M. Manelick, 81, of Youngsville, passed away Friday April 3, 2015 at The Rouse Warren Co. Home after an extended ill-ness.

Jim was born July 19, 1933 in Brokenstraw Twp., a son to the late Metro and Mary (Seminuk) Manelick, and was a 1951 graduate of Youngsville High School. Before being drafted into the US Army in May of 1953, he worked as a sum-mer employee of the former Pittsfield Concrete Block Co., the Youngsville Star Mfg. Co., and Artico Broth-ers.

After basic training and engineering school at Ft. Belvoir, Va., he was sent to Chelveston, England, as-signed to the 817th En-gineer Aviation Battalion Co. B, for strategic air com-mand base construction at Chelveston Air Force Base. Jim attained the rank of Corporal, and served dur-ing the Korean War until 1955. Jim had played foot-ball in high school and also for the Chelveston Comets while in the service.

Jim went on to attend Penn State Behrend on the GI bill and graduated in 1957 with an engineering associate’s degree. He had been employed for 38 years at the National Forge Co. as a design engineer, retiring in 1995.

Jim was active with the former Hot Stove Baseball League, the Youngsville Recreation Commission, the Youngsville American Legion Post #658, the Youngsville Men’s and Senior’s Golf League and the Forge League. He also attended the EUM Church and the First United Metho-dist Church in Youngsville.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Elsa A. Nelson Manelick, whom he mar-ried July 16, 1955 in Youngsville, a son, Jeffrey (Joletta) Manelick and a daughter, Kristin (Jeffrey) Truesdale of Severna Park, Md., 6 grandchildren, Claire (Tony) Fanelli of Youngsville, Collin Manel-ick of Youngsville, Cassan-dra and her Fiance Daniel Novak, of New Paris, Pa., Jillian (Matt Stec) Manel-ick of Garland, Justin Truesdale of North Holly-wood, Ca., Alyssa Trues-dale of Falls Church, Va., and 3 great grandchildren, Joseph and Laura Fanelli and Chase Stec, 2 brothers, Harry (Joanne) Manelick of Jamestown, N.Y., and Richard (Chris) Manelick of Pittsfield.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John, William and Nick Manelick and 2 sisters, Doris Lucie and Lena Anderson.

A private memorial ser-vice will be held at the con-venience of the family. Burial will be private.

The family would like to extend their heart felt ap-preciation to the staff of the Rouse Home, for the loving care they provided Jim dur-ing the last 6 years.
