Walter Malloy

A funeral service for Walter Edward Malloy, who died on Wednesday, March 25, was held at the Barnes United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 28. Rev. Dennis Johnson, pastor, officiated. Military honors at Barnes Cemetery were provided by members of the Sheffield & Clarendon VFW, and US Army Honor Guard personnel. Serving as pallbearers were Ryan Marti, Craig Marti, Austin Rao, Daniel Pierson, Tim Marti, Rich Pierson and Fred Risher. The Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.

Walter Malloy

Walter E. Malloy, 85, formerly of Barnes, Pennsylvania, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, after an extended stay at the Rouse Home in Youngsville. He will be sadly missed and always in our hearts and memories.

He was born in North Braddock, PA on October 10, 1929, and was the son of the late William and Ada Maude Malloy.

Walt was a proud U. S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He worked for the Corp of Engineers in Pittsburgh until 1967 when he was transferred to Kinzua Dam. He retired from Kinzua Dam in 1988.

He was actively involved with the Sheffield VFW Club where he held several offices including Commander. Walter started the Sheffield Veteran Hospital Equipment program which still provides equipment for those in need.

Walter had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His family enjoyed spending time on his Pontoon boat, which he kept docked at Kinzua Dam for many years. Walt enjoyed carpentry, gardening and his dogs. Walter, an Eagle Scout since 1947, recently watched with pride as his grandson, Daniel, became an Eagle Scout this year.

In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by a sister, Margery Cunic, and a brother, Ken Malloy both of Pittsburgh.

His is survived by his wife of 59 years, Philomena Russo Malloy, Barnes, PA and a brother, Charles & Ann Marie Malloy, Penn Hills, PA. Walter had 1 son, and four daughters. Patrick & Marianne Malloy, Chippewa, PA; Tim & Debbie Marti, Corry, PA, Sandra Rao, San Antonio, TX; Rich & Denise Pierson, Sheffield, PA and Fred & Diane Risher, Warren, PA.

Walter had 9 grandchildren: Ryan and Craig Marti, Kimberly and Laura Malloy, Austin and Mallory Rao, and Daniel, Clarice and Eric Pierson, along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, 1003 Penna. Ave., Warren, PA on Friday, March 27 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00 am at the Barnes Methodist Church, 2347 Route 666, Sheffield, with Rev. Dennis A. Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Barnes Cemetery, the Sheffield & Clarendon VFW will provide military honors.
