Mary Brown
Mary J. Brown (Sevok), 82, formerly of Corry, Pa., peacefully passed away Saturday, February 14th, 2015, in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born in the spring of 1932, in Pittsfield, Pa., daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Wokulich Sevok. Mary was raised in Pittsfield and a 1950 graduate of Youngsville High school. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son Thomas and her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) O. Brown.
Bob and Mary were high school sweethearts, married in the fall of 1950 and moved to Corry in 1955 where they raised three sons Denny, Doug and Bob Jr. Mary worked for Firestone and then Pennsylvania Gas Company until they moved to Phoenix in 1969 where she worked in the banking industry for Valley National Bank, Bank One and retired from Chase Bank.
Mary was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Corry then Mountain View Lutheran Church in Phoenix.
She also was preceded in death by her brothers John, Andrew, Stephen, Mike, Pete and George; and her best friend Marie McCray of Corry.
Mary is survived by her sister Ann Retterer of Sebring, Florida, her sisterinlaw Lois Johnson of Youngsville, her three sons, Denny and his wife Paula of Phoenix, Doug and his wife Pam of Glendale Az. and Bob and his wife Pam of Corry. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Kenny and Adam Brown, Kindra Martone, Jennifer Hesse, Karissa, Khristina, Marty, Mason, Ethan and Robby Brown and four greatgrandchildren; Nicolas and Jake Martone, Emma and Ellie Hesse. Arizona was wonderful to Bob and Mary but Pennsylvania was their home and they both will be returned to Corry this summer where a Memorial Service for family and friends will be held for their joint burial at Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks that everyone reach out to a needy person and perform a good deed in Mary’s spirit. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary, Tempe, AZ.
