Richard Shick
Richard “Dick” Shick, 84, passed into the next life, at 8:10am, Friday, January 9, 2015 in Warren Manor following an extended illness. He was born June 13, 1930, in Sheffield to the late Forest and Orabelle Graham Shick.
Dick returned to Sheffield in 1971, following a 20 plus year career in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rate of Chief Petty Officer. He served on various ships and stations and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. His favorite past times were going to flea markets and giving the kids a hard time.
He is survived by his wife Karen Larson Shick, Brookston; two daughters,Penny Gresh with husband Brian, Corry and Ann Van Tassel with husband Dan, Pittsfield; a son Mike O’Donnell, Brookston; six grandchildren, Kayla, Nicole, Andy, Brittney, Dylan, and Megan; three great grandchildren, Miles, Sophia, and Gary; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, John, and jim Shick.
Funeral and committal services will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 7:00pm in the Sheffield United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 5:007:00pm immediately preceding the service. Reverend Dennis Johnson, pastor, will officiate and burial will be at sea.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sheffield Senior Center.
