Fay Tressler
Fay L. Tressler, 91, formerly of Columbus, Pa., died on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s AsburyWest, Erie, Pa.
She was born on October 3, 1923, in Garland, Pa., a daughter of the late Lester Black and Gertie Curtis Tressler.
Fay was raised and educated in Garland, Pa., and attended Youngsville High School. Following her marriage, she moved to the Columbus area, where her main priority was raising and caring for her family. Fay worked for several local businesses over the years. Later, she worked as a dietary aide at Corry Memorial Hospital for many years, until her retirement. She had lived in Erie with her daughter for 19 years and the past two years at St. Mary’s AsburyWest.
Fay was a former member of Columbus Community Church. She enjoyed decorating cakes, reading, ceramics, sewing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Fay was preceded in death on February 6, 1979, by her husband, Clifton L. Tressler, whom she married January 17, 1942 in Warren, Pa.; also by a son Sidney Tressler; stepmother, Mary Black; soninlaw, Leo Hoover; three sisters, Ella Jane Graham, Donna Graham and Bernice Flasher; four brothers, Homer, Neil, James and Daniel Black; and a grandson, Robert Lindstrom.
Fay is survived by two daughters, Linda Hoover of Erie, Pa., and Gail Altman and her husband Frederick of Salina, Pa.; two sons, Terry Tressler and his wife Jackie of Lake Wales, Fla., and Randall Tressler and his wife Candice of Warren, Pa.; three halfsisters, Mary Meeley of Youngsville, Pa., Rose Theuret and her husband Clare of Youngsville, Pa., and Nancy Theuret and her husband Charles of Garland, Pa.; and a halfbrother, Patrick Black of Russell, Pa.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, 12 great greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm., and on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 11 am. Msgr. Richard Mayer will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
