Glenn Yosten

Glenn P. “Pete” Yosten, 87 of Girard, died on Tues-day June 10, 2014 at Erie VAMC, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 7, 1926 in Lawrence Park, a son of the late Edward J. and Edith (Myers) Yosten.

Pete graduated from the Lawrence Park High School in 1944. While attending high school he also began his working career at Gen-eral Electric in the Appren-tice Program there. As a senior in high School and as America was at War, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in January of 1945. Following graduation he served basic training and later deployed to Europe aboard a C-47 Skytrain as a Crew Chief. He was sta-tioned in Germany until his discharge in 1946, return-ing to his home in the Erie area.

He began working at Copes-Vulcan in Erie and later Autoclave where he worked for ten years. Pete began employment with the National Forge in 1965 at the Irvine, PA plant; he also worked in the Erie plant for many years, retir-ing as Vice President of Sales in 1988. Following retirement he assisted the company as a consultant.

Pete was a member of the Girard American Le-gion Post #494 and life member of the Elks Club in Warren, PA.

Pete was a very generous person, who had an uncon-ditional love for family and friends. He was thrilled with the accomplishments of all of his family. He was a good provider for his fam-ily as well as an accom-plished pianist and master woodworker, to which his family and friends received many wonderful and beau-tiful hand crafted items. He was known as a hard work-ing and good person; his memory will always be in the hearts of his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Maxine J. Yosten in 2005, also by his son in law, Wil-liam E. Weldon in 2003.

He will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Sylvia J. (Dunst) Yosten, whom he married November 26, 1952 in Westfield, NY, also by his daughter, Karen Y. Weldon of Warren; his son, Jeffrey G. Yosten of Girard; grandchildren, Tara Keller (Nathan), Jada Weldon, Charles E. Weldon (Jenna), Dakota Driscoll, Spencer Brown; great grandchil-dren, Rylan Fitzgerald, Lily Keller, Presley Weldon, Charlotte Keller and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to at-tend a Memorial Service at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at 11AM. Rev. James Rimmer will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie VAMC Hospice Program, 135 E. 38th St. Blvd., Erie PA 16504 or to the Lake City Presbyterian Church, 10088 Seeley St., Lake City, PA 16423.

Interment will be in Ar-lington National Cemetery.

Pete’s family would like to express their gratitude to the many neighbors and friends for their love and support, which they consid-er as extended family, also the staff, Doctors and Nurses at Erie VAMC for their exceptional care and compassion during Pete’s illness.
