JACK LANDERS

Mr. Jack E. Landers, 84,

of Sheffield passed away

peacefully in answer to

God’s call at 7:45 am, June

16, 2013 in his home after

an extended illness with his

loving wife, Beverly, at his

side. He was born April 29,

1929 in Warren to the late

Claude W. and Henrietta B.

Ekas Landers.

A lifelong Sheffield

resident, Jack graduated

from Sheffield High School

in 1947 and was employed

at Warren State Hospital

from 1950 to 1968. While-

working two jobs, he en-

rolled and completed I.C.S.

correspondence courses

which enabled him to buy

the old Ryberg building in

1968 and start Landers

Electronics. Mr. Landers

sold Zenith products,

repaired televisions and

almost anything elec-

tronic, and made house

calls necessary. An original

member of the Sheffield

Sports Boosters Club, Jack

was usually the Master of

Ceremonies at the

group’s annual banquets

and the press box announc-

er for all Sheffield home

football games. A longtime

Sheffield Rotary member,

he helped with all activities

including the multiphasic

blood testing until his

health prevented his at-

tendance at club functions.

At that time, Jack was con-

ferred honorary member-

ship. The Sheffield Town-

ship Supervisors presented

a lifetime of community

service award to Jack on his

80th birthday. A former

member of the Sheffield In-

vestment Club, he was also

instrumental inmaintaining

and servicing the Southside

TV Cable system. An excel-

lent hunter and fisherman,

Jack loved his garden, fruit

trees, and being with his-

family.

He is survived by his

wife of 62 years, Beverly

Ann Bunting Landers;

three daughters, Barbara

Ann Jashurek and husband

George, Sheffield, Linda

Jean Post and husband Wil-

bur, Gilbert, AZ, and Judith

Eileen Landers, Tiona; one

son, Jack William Landers

and wife Raynette, Shef-

field; four grandchildren,

Collin D. Post, Gilbert,

AZ, Jenna L. Post, Portland,

OR, Jessica Landers and

companion Ron Kelly,

Sheffield, and Jack William

Landers, Jr, Sheffield; one

great-grandson, Keianu

Paoo Kelly, Sheffield; three

nieces, Sandra

Eberhardt, Wendy Hart,

and Cathy Warren; and one

nephew Mark Seem.

In addition to his

parents, Jack was preceded

in death by two sisters,

Virginia M. Eberhart

and Dorothy L. Seem.

A Funeral Service will

be held at 1:00pm Wednes-

day, June 19, 2013, in the

Borden-Lloyd Funeral

Home with Mark Lindberg,

pastor, Sheffield Grace Bi-

ble Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Shef-

field Cemetery. Friends will

be received from 2:00-4:00

and 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday,

June 18, 2013 at the funeral

home. Memorial donations

Mr. Landers sold Zenith products, repaired televisions and almost anything electronic, and made house calls necessary. An original member of the Sheffield Sports Boosters Club, Jack was usually the Master of Ceremonies at the group’s annual banquets and the press box announcer for all Sheffield home football games. A longtime Sheffield Rotary member, he helped with all activities including the multiphasic blood testing until his health prevented his attendance at club functions. At that time, Jack was conferred honorary membership. The Sheffield Township Supervisors presented a lifetime of community service award to Jack on his 80th birthday. A former member of the Sheffield Investment Club, he was also instrumental in maintaining and servicing the Southside TV Cable system. An excellent hunter and fisherman, Jack loved his garden, fruit trees, and being with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly Ann Bunting Landers; three daughters, Barbara Ann Jashurek and husband George, Sheffield, Linda Jean Post and husband Wilbur, Gilbert, AZ, and Judith Eileen Landers, Tiona; one son, Jack William Landers and wife Raynette, Sheffield; four grandchildren, Collin D. Post, Gilbert, AZ, Jenna L. Post, Portland, OR, Jessica Landers and companion Ron Kelly, Sheffield, and Jack William Landers, Jr, Sheffield; one greatgrandson, Keianu Paoo Kelly, Sheffield; three nieces, Sandra Eberhardt, Wendy Hart, and Cathy Warren; and one nephew Mark Seem.
