WAYNE FURMAN
L.G. Wayne Furman Jr., 82, of 11480 Phillipsville Road, Wattsburg, Pa., formerly of Davis Road, Mayville, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in his home.
He was born October 12, 1930 in Edinboro, Pa. the son of the late L.G. Wayne and Carrie Neiger Furman Sr.
Wayne had been a carpenter for Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY.
He was a member of Hurlbut Memorial Community Church, Chautauqua Fire Department, Chautauqua Choir, Jamestown Choral Society, International Order of King’s, Daughters, and Sons, Evans Skate Club, and the Methodist House Board in Chautauqua.
Wayne was a soloist for area churches, organizations and for Denominational Houses at Chautauqua. He really enjoyed doing carpentry.
He is survived by his three children, Cynthia Martin, Robert Furman, and Mary McCloskey; eight grandchildren, Gwenn Davis, Jerome Martin, Peter Furman, Kate Furman, Julia Furman, Liesl McCloskey, Collin McCloskey and Kirsten McCloskey; two great grandchildren, Rylee Marie Davis and Matthew Jackson Davis; a sister, Joyce Wilsted; and his fiance, Barbara Mountaintop.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Christine Gustavson Furman, whom he married December 19, 1953 in Jamestown, and who died April 2, 2010; two siblings, Melvin Furman and Janet Gustafson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, that will be announced by the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville, NY. Burial will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery.
