ALICE FOLEY

Alice Jane Foley, age 84, of The Villages, Florida and formerly of Indiana, PA passed away on Friday, January 4 at the home of Jodell and Anthony Kuzneski.

Alice was born in Donora, Pennsylvania on August 15, 1928, the daughter of Walter and Jennie Horn. Alice grew up a “country girl,” raising chickens and tending to home gardens. She met the love of her life, John Maurer Foley, while sled riding during their high school years. While John served our country in the Army during World War II, Alice worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and as a sales clerk at Montgomery Wards. John and Alice were married in 1947 and raised four children.

Alice was a devoted wife and mother. She attended hundreds of sporting events and concerts in support of her children and grandchildren. She was a fabulous baker and fed the neighborhood children cookies and freshly made bread for years. She carried that talent forward and worked in the kitchens of both Meals on Wheels and Graystone Presbyterian Church. She was also a talented seamstress and quilter; her work was worn by her children growing up and lives on with the quilts she made for family. Alice was a good friend to many in both Indiana, Pa., and to her neighbors and walking friends in The Villages, Florida.

Alice is survived by her children Cathy Foley Bluemling and her husband Tom of The Villages, Florida; Jodell Kuzneski and her husband, Anthony of Indiana, Pennsylvania; Terry J. Foley and his wife Peggy of Marietta, Georgia; and Nancy Foley and Kathy Ponting of Placerville, California; 8 grandchildren, Katie Blueming Sheldon and husband Victor; Cory Bluemling; Tyler Bluemling; Travis Bluemling; Emily Kuzneski Johnson and husband Jesse; John Kuzneski and his fiance Stacey May; Allison Foley; and Sean Foley; 3 great grandchildren, Carson, Kaitlyn, and Kelsey Sheldon; brother Walter LeClaire Horn Jr. and wife Naomi; close sisterinlaw Betty Foley and Julie Largay. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Maurer Foley, parents, and sister Doris Miller.

A memorial service will be held at Graystone Presbyterian Church in Indiana, PA at 11:00am on Monday, January 7.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the California Game Wardens Foundation, 2180 Sand Hill Rd., Ste. 100, Menlo Park, CA 94025, or VNA Hospice, 850 Hospital Rd., Ste. 300, Indiana, PA 15701.
