Youngsville woman jailed after assaulting mother

By John Whittaker 2 min read

A Youngsville woman has been jailed on $50,000 bail after a disturbance at the Youngsville Dollar General store on Tuesday.

Kayla M. Greene, 21, was charged by Youngsville police with misdemeanor simply assault, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct engaged in fighting, disorderly conduct -- unreasonable noise, harassment and public drunkenness and similar misconduct after officers responded to the Dollar General location on Railroad Street, Youngsville, at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday. Greene was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Raymond Zydonik, who set bail at $50,000 cash. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 14.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer was down the street from the store when he heard a woman yelling at another woman. The officer responded at the same time Youngsville police received a 911 call from employees at the Dollar General about the incident.

Greene allegedly assaulted her mother inside the store, with officers saying Greene's mother was left with visible red marks. Greene allegedly later admitted, after receiving her Miranda warnings, that she hit her mother. A report was also made to Youngsville Police regarding the incident with photos taken to document the injury.

"The victim also reported that the defendant refused to leave the store after being told to do so, thus committing a defiant trespass," the affidavit states. "The victim is also employed at Dollar General. The defendant's actions did cause public inconvenience, annoyance and alarm and she persisted in her actions. The defendant also admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day and based on her actions I believe she was manifestly under the influence of the substance to the degree she endangered herself or other persons or property, or annoyed persons in her vicinity."
