Rouse Home named to Newsweek’s Best Nursing Homes list

3 min read

Rouse Warren County Home has been named to Newsweek's America's Best Nursing Homes 2027, a national ranking recognizing nursing homes across the United States for performance in areas including quality of care, clinical services, quality measures and overall performance.

Rouse is among 1,325 nursing homes nationwide recognized in the eighth edition of the annual ranking, which was created by Newsweek in partnership with Statista. This year's ranking is the first to evaluate nursing homes in every state and the District of Columbia. Pennsylvania had 77 nursing homes recognized across three bed-size categories.

Rouse Warren County Home, a 176-bed skilled nursing facility, is included in Pennsylvania's 150+ bed category, which includes 35 recognized nursing homes. The ranking evaluates facilities within their state or region and bed-size category.

Rouse leadership said the recognition was an unexpected honor. The organization was contacted regarding the announcement and had not been aware it was being considered for the ranking.

"We were genuinely surprised to learn that Rouse had been included," said Susan Teconchuk, CEO of Rouse. "We certainly didn't set out to pursue this recognition, which makes it especially meaningful to share with our residents, families and staff. Every day, our team comes to work focused on caring for people, helping our residents feel safe, respected and at home. To have that work recognized through a national ranking is something we are proud to acknowledge together."

According to Statista, the America's Best Nursing Homes 2027 ranking considered a combination of quality indicators, survey results, accreditation information and resident and visitor feedback. Facilities had to meet established eligibility and performance thresholds to be considered for the final ranking.

Rouse Warren County Home Administrator Zach Hammersley said the recognition belongs to the people who provide care and support to residents every day.

"Our residents are at the center of everything we do, and our staff are the ones who make that commitment real every day," Hammersley said. "There are nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, dietary staff, environmental services, life enrichment, maintenance and so many others who contribute to the experience our residents have at Rouse. Being recognized by Newsweek is a nice reminder that the work happening here matters, and we are grateful to everyone who plays a part in caring for our residents."

Rouse has served Warren County and the surrounding region for more than 160 years. Today, the organization provides skilled nursing, rehabilitation, personal care, memory care, home care and early childhood services, with a mission centered on service, education, advocacy and support.

"Recognition like this is ultimately about people," Teconchuk added. "Our staff have chosen to spend their days caring for others, and our residents and families have trusted us to be part of their lives. We are grateful for that trust and proud to share this recognition with the entire Rouse community."
