Second of Tidioute’s annual back to back fishing tournaments is Saturday

Fishing the Allegheny River in Tidioute offers one of the best public launches in the county boasting about a great diversity of species that draws people from all over the region for back-to-back weekends each fall.

While the PA State Fishing Tournament was held last weekend for its 67th year, a 30-year tradition on the river continues this Saturday, Oct. 3, along the Allegheny in Tidioute. The George R. Jones Jr. Waterways Conservation Officer Memorial Walleye-Bass Fishing Tournament honors the man who served as the Pennsylvania Fish Commission Waterways Patrolman from 1967 to 1996 in Warren and Venango counties.

Results from the 2026 PA State Fishing Tournament winners: third place: Justin Drukenbrod – 23.65 lbs (6 Bass/2 Walleye); 2nd Place: Walt Stover – 25.91 lbs. (6 Bass/6 Walleye); and 1st Place: Andy Severns- 28.02 lbs. (6 Bass/2 Walleye).

The kids derby had 31 participants and the winners are: 3rd place Kius Summerville with 36.5 inches, 2nd place Killian Reynolds with 37 inches, and 1st place Remington Johnson with 38 inches.

Volunteers from the weekend long event include community members who make this tournament and all that goes along with it possible. A special congratulations to two outstanding Tidioute community members, Dakota Gourley and Kim Wolford Rafalski on being presented the 2026 Community Service Award for their dedicated service to the Tidioute community.

The parade added to the festivities, attracting many from the region to experience the small town charm of a community of people working together year after year to make the weekend a family fun experience for everyone.
