The Blue Star Mothers are launching their fourth year of participation in the Wreaths Across America program, setting an ambitious goal to honor local veterans. This year, the organization aims to place 3,001 wreaths across eight cemeteries in Warren County, ensuring that those who served are not forgotten.
Organizers emphasize that it is never too early to sponsor a wreath. Each sponsorship guarantees that a holiday wreath will be placed on a local veteran’s grave. Behind every wreath lies the story of a veteran who served, a family who sacrificed, a life that matters and a hero who deserves to be remembered.
Currently, the campaign is facing a critical shortfall. Less than one-third of the required wreaths have been secured, with 946 sponsored and 2,055 still needed to reach the goal. The participating local burial grounds include Barnes, Cherry Grove, Oakland, Saint Joseph, Warren Memorial Park, State Hospital, and Westview cemeteries.
Community members can sponsor a wreath to honor a loved one, pay tribute to a veteran, or simply ensure that a hometown hero is remembered this winter. Wreaths will be placed on Dec. 19 with a ceremony at noon. Location to be announced at a later time. Wreaths cost $17 and can be ordered at www.Wreathsacrossamerica.org/PA0784
