A Youngsville man was jailed Friday on $100,000 bail after allegedly using Facebook Messenger to have lewd and unlawful discussions with an alleged 15-year-old girl.

Raymond L. Champlin, 53, of Youngsville was charged first-degree unlawful contact with a minor - sexual offenses; third-degree felony unlawful contact with a minor - open lewdness and third-degree criminal use of a communication facility.

He was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Court Judge Raymond Zydonik, who set bail at $100,000. Champlin was unable to post bail and was taken to the Warren County Prison.

Champlin will return to court Sept. 9 for a preliminary hearing in front of Zydonik.

According to the Affidavit of Probable cause, the Facebook Messenger account with whom Champlin was communicating was managed by undercover police. Champlin allegedly thought he was talking to a 15-year-old.

The affidavit states the contact began in March 2025, with Champlin allegedly made aware that the covert account belonged to a 15-year-old girl. Messages continued off and on through May 31, 2026, when Champlin allegedly sent the presumed girl two videos as well as lewd comments.

According to online records, Champlin had been sentenced to 60 to 90 days in the Warren County Prison on Aug. 20 by Judge Todd Woodin in the Court of Common Pleas after pleading guilty to driving with a suspended license/revocation and five years of probation after pleading guilty to a charge of use/possession of drug paraphernalia and five additional years of probation after pleading guilty to DUI: controlled substance – schedule 2 or 3 – second offense, with credit for 211 days. The Affidavit of Probable Cause for the most recent set of charges filed against Champlin states an officer interviewed Champlin while he was in the county jail, with Champlin allegedly admitting to making contact with the presumed 14-year-old girl as well as making the statements and sending videos to the presumed girl.

“He admitted to making contact with the presumed 15-year-old female; he continued to state that he did in fact make those statements and sent those videos to the presumed 15-year-old female,” the affidavit states.
