One Warren resident has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to unlawful contact with a minor while another Warren man has pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony charge of corruption of minors.
Nathaniel W. Stahlman, 19, was charged in January with first-degree felony unlawful contact with a minor - sexual offenses, third-degree felony unlawful contact with a minor - open lewdness and third-degree felony criminal use of a communication facility, pleading guilty in May to first-degree felony unlawful contact with a minor - sexual offenses and third-degree felony criminal use of a communication facility.
Stahlman was sentenced on Aug. 21 to 22 to 44 months in prison, with credit for 142 days time served, to satisfy the plea to unlawful contact with a minor and 6 to 12 months, as well as one year of probation, to satisfy the guilty plea to criminal use of a communication facility.
Joshua M. Baumgratz, 33, of Warren was charged by the the State Police at Warren with third-degree felony corruption of minors – defendant age 18 or above, misdemeanor indecent assault person less than 13 years of age, misdemeanor indecent assault forcible compulsion and second-degree misdemeanor indecent assault without consent of the other person in January.
Baumgratz was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Raymnd Zydonik, who set bail at $50,000. Baumgratz is listed as being in the SCI Forest prison as of Feb. 10.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by the State Police, troopers received a phone call from a woman in November who said there had been inappropriate contact between Baumgratz and a 10-year-old girl at a Sheffield home. The girl was interviewed in early November at the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center, telling troopers Baumgratz allegedly touched her inappropriately.
Baumgratz allegedly told police he had been drinking heavily that night and could not remember what happened that night, though he did not admit to touching the girl as alleged. Baumgratz pleaded guilty to the most serious charge, third-degree felony corruption of minors – defendant age 18 or above, during court proceedings in front of Judge Todd Woodin in the Court of Common Pleas, on Aug. 18 as well as a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault forcible compulsion. The other two charges were not prosecuted.
