A trial has been scheduled for October for a jury to hear the case of a Tidioute Community Charter School teacher charged in 2025 with statutory sexual assault.
Jury selection began Monday in the case against Megan R. Minich, 41, who was charged in November 2025 with first-degree statutory sexual assault: 11 years older; third-degree felony school – intercourse/sexual contact with a student; and two counts of third-degree corruption of minors – defendant age 18 or above. All seven felony charges were bound over for the Court of Common Pleas. The trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 27 with Judge Todd Woodin presiding.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the State Police at Warren was notified of three Childline Reports received by the Warren County District Attorney’s Office regarding a known youth alleging a teacher at the Tidioute Community Charter School had a sexual relationship with the youth. The complaint also alleges Minich gave the youth, who was 13 years of age at the time of the alleged incident in 2022, a large sum of money to keep the relationship a secret.
Also scheduled for trial in October is one count on which a mistrial was declared in July. Sam Hornacky, 23, of Warren had been charged with first-degree felony dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity/intent to promote, third-degree felony criminal use of a communication facility, felony manufacture, deliver or possession with intent to manufacture to deliver, and intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered in September 2025 after allegedly selling $20 worth of cocaine to an undercover police officer.
Hornacky took his case to a jury, which found on Aug. 4 that Hornacky was not guilty of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity/intent to promote and criminal use of a communication facility. The jury was hung on the charge of felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture to deliver. Hornacky was found guilty of a misdemeanor charge of intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered. The retrial on the charge of felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture to deliver is scheduled to take place Oct. 20 with President Judge Gregory Hammond presiding.
Hornacky still faces charges filed in February of felony criminal attempt to manufacture, deliver or possess with intent to manufacture or deliver and misdemeanor criminal attempt to possess a controlled substance by a person not registered after Conewango Township police reported finding Hornacky in possession of 25.4 grams of fentanyl in both pill and powder form. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by police, Conewango Township police worked with the state Attorney General Office's Bureau of Narcotics, the Warren County Drug Task Force and Youngsville Borough police.
