Scandia museum to be opened Saturday

Elk Township Historical Society will open their museum and restored 1800s classroom on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. Come and explore our area's early years of existence in Warren County.
We offer an interesting experience, where children can sit at the antique school desks, write on slates, browse old schoolbooks, and learn what it was like to attend a school with no indoor plumbing. Several Elk Township current residents attended at that time. We are proud to have 100 years of Elk Township school photos and records on display, as well.
Scandia School was established in 1878 and closed its doors in 1999.
In addition, visitors will enjoy our museum housing antiques from yesteryear, hundreds of photographs and records of early families, cemeteries, barn foundations, obituaries and much more. The museum is free to visit and is located at the four corners in Scandia. All are welcome!
