Warren County Commissioners held two public hearings this week prior to their regular meeting, both concerning the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
The first hearing focused on proposed modifications to the county's 2024 fiscal year CDBG funding.
County Grant Writer Josh Cotton told commissioners the funding was originally designated for a stormwater project in Tidioute, which was completed under budget.
Under the proposed changes, $111,410.42 in remaining funds would be redirected to two projects: countywide housing rehabilitation and accessibility improvements at Spring Creek Community Park.
Cotton said the public hearing is required by the state before the county can reallocate the funds.
No members of the public commented during the first hearing.
The second hearing provided an opportunity for public feedback on the county's proposed use of $236,636 in 2026 federal CDBG funding. It was the second of two required public hearings on the proposal.
The funding would be divided among three projects, with $188,000 allocated to countywide housing rehabilitation.
"Interest in that has been really strong," Cotton told commissioners. "So we are going to continue investing in that space."
Another $42,000 would be allocated for improvements to the Brokenstraw Township building, while $6,636 would be used for program administration costs.
No members of the public commented during the second hearing.
The CDBG Program provides annual funding to Warren County to help address community needs.
To qualify for CDBG funding, a project must benefit low- and moderate-income residents, help prevent or eliminate slum or blight, or address an urgent or emergency need.
