The Warren City Council will meet Monday at 7 p.m., with the administration of the Oath of Office to newly appointed Chief of Police Joseph Bees among the highlights of the meeting.
Judge Raymond Zydonik will administer the oath to Bees, who will take over leadership of the Warren Police Department following the recent retirement of Chief Joseph Sproveri.
Council will also recognize retiring Warren City Fire Department Chief David Krogler.
The meeting's guest presenter will be Tressa Sweeney of the Economic Opportunity Council of Warren-Forest Counties. The agency works to reduce poverty in the community by connecting residents with available funding and services.
Jenny Philips, marketing director of Warren Worx, will also provide the council with an update on the organization's work.
Among the business items on the agenda, the council will review the appointment of an Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC). The city is required under the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Services Code to designate a trained EMC.
Council will also consider a proposed resolution authorizing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for improvements to Hammond Street, as well as funding for CDBG administration costs.
Another item calls for council to review a proposed memorandum of understanding between the city and the Firefighters Union regarding advanced EMT certification.
Council will also review applications for a vacant seat on the Planning Commission and consider two proposed tax assessment appeals.
The agenda also includes committee updates from the Comprehensive Plan Task Force, Council of Governments and Riverfront Development.
