Hospital surpasses $7M capital campaign goal

Warren General Hospital CEO Dan Grolemund congratulates retired CEO and campaign leader Rick Allen at the Conewango Club during the Capstone Donor reception, celebrating the milestone achievement of the hospital's capital campaign.

Warren General Hospital officially announced that its ambitious "Building on Success" Capital Campaign has surpassed its initial $7 million target, reaching $7.1 million in pledged and received gifts. The announcement comes on the heels of a celebration honoring the campaign's Capstone-level donors -- individuals, local businesses, and regional foundations contributing $25,000 or more to help secure the future of independent healthcare in Warren County.

The milestone represents one of the largest philanthropic achievements in the hospital's history, driven by an initial silent phase that raised over $5.4 million before community-wide public support carried the campaign across the finish line.

Following WGH's recent designation as a federal Critical Access Hospital, which stabilizes baseline operations through cost-based Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, every dollar raised in the $7.1 million campaign will bypass day-to-day operational costs and go directly into critical capital upgrades.

Key projects funded by the campaign include:

-- Next-Generation Diagnostic Imaging: Complete replacements of WGH's MRI suite, advanced CT scanning system, fluoroscopy equipment for real-time surgical imaging, and high-frequency ultrasound units.

-- Cancer Care Center Pharmacy: A complete overhaul and construction of a state-of-the-art sterile compounding "Clean Room" to prepare life-saving chemotherapy treatments locally.

-- Facility & Infrastructure Upgrades: Modernization of the Warren Medical Group physician offices, new elevator systems, and enhanced interior patient areas.

A Capstone celebration last week brought together community leaders, clinical teams, and major benefactors whose early and substantial commitments served as the cornerstone of the initiative.

"Reaching and exceeding $7.1 million is a defining statement by our community that top-tier, compassionate healthcare must stay right here at home," said Dan Grolemund, CEO of Warren General Hospital. "When medical emergencies occur, time and distance matter. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our campaign partners and community donors at every level, Warren County families and patients from the surrounding areas will have access to the same caliber of diagnostic and clinical tools found in major health systems."

"For decades, Warren General has served as the anchor for regional well-being and a major employer for over 700 residents," added Rick Allen, retired WGH CEO and Campaign Leader. "When a loved one needs emergency or cancer care, 'close enough' isn’t good enough. Our donors recognized that promise and delivered it for generations to come."

While the primary goal has been achieved, hospital officials noted that additional contributions will continue to be allocated toward ongoing phased modernizations. Donor recognition installations honoring contributors across all four campaign tiers -- Foundational, Framing, Keystone, and Capstone -- along with formal department naming dedications, will be unveiled as equipment installations and facility renovations are completed over the coming year.
