The Warren-Forest Higher Education Council (Hi-Ed) will host a free three-part Alzheimer's and dementia education series presented by expert Reyd Martin, Director of Resident Care from the Rosecliff by Rouse.
The series will provide caregivers, family members, and other interested community members with practical information and strategies for supporting someone living with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia.
The series will include:
-- Understanding Challenging Behaviors, today, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
-- Creating a Dementia-Friendly Home Thursday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
-- Holiday Tips for Caregivers Thursday, November 12, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
All three classes will be held at the Warren-Forest Higher Education Council, located at 589 Hospital Drive, Suite F, in Warren. Participants are welcome to register for one class or attend the complete series.
Past participants in similar programs have shared that the classes offered more than helpful information. Learning alongside others facing similar circumstances also provided a meaningful sense of connection and support. Caring for someone with dementia can sometimes feel isolating, and these classes give participants an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect with people who understand many of the same challenges.
"We are pleased to offer these important classes to members of our community at no cost," said Angie Bigelow, assistant director of Hi-Ed. "We are especially grateful to Reyd Martin for generously donating her time and expertise. Her support allows us to provide caregivers and families with helpful information while reminding them that they are not alone."
