On the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, students from the Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) Chapter at Grove City College planted 2,977 American flags on Grove City's campus. Each flag represents one American who lost their life on the morning of September 11th, 2001. As they walk by, students, faculty, and visitors of Grove City are encouraged to remember that their freedom comes at a cost. The tragedy of this day and sudden loss of nearly 3,000 Americans remain etched in the hearts of those who watched it happen, whether in DC, New York, or on their television at home. However, for the vast majority of students at Grove City College, 9/11 is not an event they directly experienced, making the need to remember even greater. YAF recognizes that their generation is pivotal to the continuation of the American dream, and that can only take place when its history is remembered. Through this display, the YAF chapter at Grove City College invites those who walk by to remember the cost of their freedom and actively fight for a society that pursues truth and justice in a world that often strays. The display remained through Monday.
