Registration for Warren’s Got Talent ends today

By JESSICA N. REX 3 min read

It's the fifth anniversary of Warren's Got Talent (WGT) and this year, things are a bit different.

In years past, the event took place during the Fourth of July festivities at Betts Park. This year, it will take place at Pellegrino's Creekside Pavilion at the Cathedral of Rock with a kickoff show on Saturday, Sept. 5, for a qualifier round from 7 to 10 p.m. A finale show will take place on Sept. 12 also from 7 to 10 p.m.

Registration has been extended, with entries due by midnight tonight. For more information or to register, text Meghan Kelsey, event coordinator, at 814-688-6237 or email warrensgottalent@gmail.com.

Special guest performances include Meghan Kelsey, Dewayne Moore, Skylar Martin, Gypsy the Disciple, Jill Guiffre and more.

The competition is housed under the Warren County 4th of July Committee, where Warren's Got Talent got its start. Music in the Park series is put on by the same committee and while that will come to an end on Friday, WGT will start the next day.

When Kelsey joined that committee in 2022 with a desire to give back to the community by bringing joy to many, it sparked the beginning of WGT.

"I am so proud to be part of this committee family, and grateful to coordinate and chair such an incredible event each year," Kelsey said.

Kelsey met Ryan Lundgren, her co-writer and fellow musician, during the kickoff year of WGT. She was event coordinator while Lundgren was on the judge panel. They have been writing music together in their duo "Malachi" with their second album to be released sometime this year. Their music can be found on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and all major platforms.

"Our name "Malachi" biblically means "messenger," chosen intentionally as we bring a message of hope, restoration, and healing to those who are healing, those who are broken-hearted, and those who just need a message of hope in this journey called life," said Kelsey.

Others who have helped along the way include John Hyde, a fellow committee member and partner in coordinating the event in 2022 and 2023; Chad Lang, who supported the show in 2022 and 2023; Carl Kelsey for his support with the 2024 and 2025 shows, and to Nena Lucas for her support and dedication to contestants.

Sponsors include The Music Conservatory LLC – Warren, B&N Trophies & Awards (Noelle Hone), AllImage Graphics (Dave Hone), Pellegrino’s Creekside Pavilion, Jones Chevrolet, Mike Sharp, owner of the Russell Roller Rink; local comedian Beefy Laughs, the MaW Filmworks Company, Arona, Mack’s Transport, and Hometown Rent to Own.
