Community rallies around Kossack family with benefits

Craig O'Connor, organizer of a benefit put together for young Cooper Kossack, was amazed at both the turnout as well as how people stepped up in supporting the Kossack family for their journey ahead with treatments for his recent diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
"It's nice to see how everybody's come together for this little boy," O'Connor said.
Hosted at the Warren Eagles Club 313, the Rally in the Valley event was held the same weekend and organizers of that also sold a basket raffle for Kossack.
The involvement of the Warren Eagles Club was a part of the success of the benefit. Ashley Jurkowski, Eagles manager, helped organize the benefit. Brylee Scharrer has been selling her popcorn at the Warren Farmer's Market with the purpose of helping sick children. Shortly after Brylee Scharrer's story was printed, Brylee's mother Carley Scharrer saw Cooper's story and reached out to be put in touch with the Kossack family in order for Brylee to help Cooper. The families met recently and Brylee was happy to use her popcorn earnings to bring some joy to both Cooper and his brother Chase by providing gifts to them.
Carley Scharrer, Brylee's mother, said it was nice for her daughter to have the in-person interaction with Cooper and his brother, Chase. They were all excited to meet and greeted one another with a big hug.
"Brylee already has some more ideas of things she would like to get him down the road," Carley Scharrer said.
