‘Come From Away’ wins hearts across community

Last week, community members participated in a Friendship Walk beginning at Crescent Park and continuing across the Veterans Memorial Bridge to the Struthers Library Theatre, commemorating the opening night of "Come From Away."
The production welcomed a little more than 1,200 patrons during its four‑day engagement, with Sunday achieving the highest attendance. This marks a significant accomplishment for Struthers Library Theatre, representing its first internally produced show in 20 years.
Multiple theatres nationwide selected "Come From Away" to recognize the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, tragedy. The musical, based on the true story, is unfamiliar to many, and honors the extraordinary compassion shown by residents of a small Newfoundland town who supported stranded travelers in the aftermath.
The performance delivered both poignant storytelling and well‑received humor, supported by exceptional local talent.
