Cedric the Entertainer will bring his vaunted stand-up act to the Seneca Allegany Casino stage in January.
Beginning in the 1990s, Cedric the Entertainer built a career in stand-up comedy, as well as in film, television, and voice acting, earning recognition for his contributions to American comedy and entertainment. He had starred in "The Neighborhood" on CBS from 2018 to 2026, with the long-running sitcom coming to an end earlier this year as rising production costs and cast salaries made the show too expensive for the network to continue.

While Cedric the Entertainer has been a fixture on television and in movies in recent years, he got his start in standup comedy. After appearing on It’s Showtime at the Apollo in 1992, Cedric the Entertainer hosted BET’s ComicView during the 1993-94 season and then hosted Def Comedy Jam in 1995. The comic then moved into acting, including playing The Cowardly Lion in the 1995 Apollo Theater Revival of The Wiz before landing a role as Cedric Jackie Robinson on The Steve Harvey Show.
The role on Harvey's WB sitcom led to Cedric the Entertainer's stint as one of the Kings of Comedy headliners along with Harvey, D.L. Hughley and Bernie Mac. The act was so successful that it was later made into a Spike Lee film, The Original Kings of Comedy in 2000.
Cedric the Entertainer later starred in the TV Land original series The Soul Man, which aired from 2012-16, before landing the starring role in The Neighborhood. He has also done voice work for the films Ice Age, Madagascar, Charlotte’s Web, Planes and Planes: Fire & Rescue. Film roles include Ride (1998), Big Momma’s House (2000), Barbershop (2002),[14] and its sequels Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004)[15] and Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016),[16] Serving Sara (2002), Intolerable Cruelty (2003), Johnson Family Vacation (2004), Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004), Man of the House (2005), Be Cool (2005).
In 2019, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
"I feel really blessed to have such a long career and one that has mainly just been kind of gradual and steady," Cedric told The Associated Press in 2021. "I laugh a lot on my job. I make people laugh. It's a good time."
