Tidioute News: Book club, VFW events slated

Upcoming news items from Tidioute:

-- Book Club at the Tidioute Public Library -- The next Book Club meeting will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. Whether you are a lifelong avid reader or just looking to get back into the habit of reading, come share your thoughts, favorite books or current reads! Also, the Book Challenge Book Club will meet at The Tidioute Public Library on Aug. 22 at 11. A list of prompts is available at the library.

-- TCCS Picture Day -- TCCS fall picture day is Sept. 4. Retakes will be on Oct. 16.

-- Tidioute VFW Events -- VFW Meeting is on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. at the club.

VFW Auxiliary meeting is on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the club.

Bingo is every Monday (excluding holidays) and open to the public. Doors open at 5, kitchen opens at 5 p.m., jackpot tickets on sale at 6, and games start at 6:30.

-- Farmers' Market held every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the club parking lot -- weather permitting. Farmers wishing to sell garden items, please contact Tim Strain.

-- Left-Right-Center Game Day at the club on Saturday, Aug. 29. Doors open at 1 p.m. with games starting at 2 p.m. Kitchen will be open and a 50-50 raffle, basket raffles, etc. will be available. Admission is $5 and that includes door prizes and snacks. Contact Crystal Heenan or Michael Edmiston for tickets and details.

-- There will be a Ham Loaf/Ham Slice Dinner (your choice) on Friday, Aug. 21 at the St. John Center from 4 to 6 p.m. Dinner includes scalloped potatoes, vegetable, roll, dessert and beverage for $10. Eat in or carryout. Delivery in the borough of Tidioute is available by calling Linda at 814-730-2555.

-- Liz Gesin's celebration of life will be on Aug. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Tidioute fire hall.

-- Day of Remembrance Dinner and Music will be on Sept. 11. Chicken and biscuit dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. Music by Dan Baney from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 and includes dinner and music. To-go orders available for $10.
