Ohio man sentenced to jail time

A Painesville, Ohio, man has been sentenced to between 11 months, 29 days and 25 months confinement after being found guilty at trial of three counts of second-degree misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person.

Dylan W. Brown, 34, had been charged in 2024 by the State Police at Corry after an incident in Columbus Township.

A trial had been scheduled for October but was continued after a request from the Warren County District Attorney's office. Brown's attorney requested a delay in January that was also granted. Brown's attorney then filed a motion to dismiss the case that was denied May 22 by Judge Gregory Hammond. A jury trial was held in June with Brown found guilty.

In addition to confinement, Brown was sentenced to pay $4,811 in restitution.

A Warren man has pleaded guilty in the August 2025 assault of two workers at the Warren State Hospital as well as a second incident in October 2025 has also been sentenced. Gabriel J. Coull, 23, pleaded guilty during a recent settlement conference in the Court of Common Pleas to a charge of second-degree felony aggravated assault – attempts to cause or causes bodily injury to designated individuals while misdemeanor charges of simple assault and harassment were not prosecuted in relation to the October incident. He was sentenced to 90 days of confinement to satisfy the plea on that docket.

Coull also pleaded guilty in June to two misdemeanor assault charges in relation to the August 2025 incident with two counts of second-degree felony aggravated assault – attempts to cause or causes bodily injury to designated individuals and two harassment charges were not prosecuted. He was sentenced to four years of probation, to run consecutively after his time in confinement.

Other sentences in the Court of Common Pleas in front of Judge Hammond on Friday include:

– Tammy S. Wester of Clarendon pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment while a charge of simple assault was not prosecuted. Wester was charged in 2025 after an incident in Clarendon in which she engaged in a verbal argument with another woman. During the argument, Wester allegedly pushed the other woman,who then fell and broke two ribs. Wester was sentenced to 90 days of probation.

– Paul Ploss, 44, of Girard, Pa., who pleaded guilty to a charge of obstructing administration of law/other government function while charges of resisting arrest/other law enforcement and flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment were not prosecuted. Jury selection in advance of a possible trial had been scheduled to take place in late July before Ploss pleaded guilty on July 10. Ploss was sentenced to two years of probation.

– Tyler D. Phelps, 31, was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to simple assault after a February incident in Conewango Township. Charges of first-degree aggravated assault - attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, misdemeanor recklessly endangering the welfare of another person, and harassment were not prosecuted.

– Zackery D. Chatmon, 24, of Kane was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to third-degree felony criminal trespassing – entering structure. Charges of stalking and loitering and prowling at night time were not prosecuted.
