Community helps Eisenhower bring dream to D.C.

The Eisenhower Knights Marching Band is expressing its heartfelt gratitude to the organizations and individuals whose generous support is helping make the band's dream of marching in Washington, D.C., for the Veterans Day Parade a reality.
Scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8, the National Veteran's Day Parade will bring high school marching bands from across the country together in the nation's capital. This year marks the third annual event and the first time the Eisenhower Knights will participate.
The weekend will give the Knights several opportunities to perform. On Saturday, participating bands will perform field shows on the grounds of the Washington Monument, while Sunday will feature the National Veterans Parade along Constitution Avenue. The parade route will begin near the National Archives and continue through the heart of Washington, D.C.
The festival is designed to honor the nation's military service members while also showcasing the talent and dedication of high school music programs from across the country.
Making the trip possible, however, requires significant financial support. Donations will help cover the costs of coach bus transportation, lodging and food for those attending.
The band would like to recognize several organizations and funds for their significant contributions toward making the trip possible, including the Community Foundation of Warren, the Sokolski Family Donor Advised Fund, the DeFrees Family Memorial Fund, the Libonati Fund and the Richard T. Betts Foundation.
The band also extends a special thank-you to Mark King of the Community Foundation of Warren County for his support throughout the fundraising effort. Band representatives describe King as an enthusiastic supporter, cheerleader and guiding light who helped encourage the band as it worked towards its goal.
While significant progress has been made, community members who would like to help support the Eisenhower Knights Marching Band and its effort to march in Washington, D.C., can make a donation by sending a check to:
Eisenhower Bandastic Boosters, 3700 Route 957, Russell, PA 16365.
The band says every contribution will help its students take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity while honoring the nation's veterans and celebrating America's 250th anniversary.
