A Warren man already serving a sentence at the Huntingdon Correctional Facility has pleaded guilty to a felony charge filed in February 2025.
Joseph A. Krall, 42, was charged Feb. 21 by Warren City Police with second-degree felony contraband/controlled substances in a prison. Krall pleaded guilty to the charge recently in the Court of Common Pleas during an appearance before President Judge Gregory Hammond. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 28.
Warren County Prison staff had requested an officer to report to the facility for controlled substances. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Joseph Krall, an inmate at the Warren County Prison, received a novelty card with four dissolvable suboxone strips on Feb. 2. The card was sent to the Warren County Prison with a return address containing a fictitious name of “Juanita Wilcox” and a fake address. The package was traced back to Juanita S. Krall, 50, of Lakewood, who was also charged with second-degree felony for contraband/controlled substances in a prison and a felony charge for delivery of the controlled substance. The prison forwarded recorded phone calls to the Warren police officers, who reviewed the conversations between the Kralls.
“The conversation indicates the intentional delivery and concealment of a controlled substance,” the affidavit states.
While Krall had been in the Warren County Prison at the time, online court docket information showed he had since been transferred to Huntingdon.
Juanita Krall pleaded guilty on July 9 to a felony charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver while second-degree charges of contraband/controlled substance and conspiracy – contraband/controlled substance were not prosecuted.
Other cases decided in the Court of Common Pleas recently include:
Paul Ploss, 44, of Girard, Pa., who pleaded guilty to a charge of obstructing administration of law/other government function while charges of resisting arrest/other law enforcement and flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment were not prosecuted. Jury selection in advance of a possible trial had been scheduled to take place in late July before Ploss pleaded guilty on July 10.
– Charges of retaliation against a witness or victim and harassment filed against Carol L. Spitale, 36, of Depew, N.Y., have been dismissed. Spitale had been charged in December by the State Police at Warren. Several continuances had been filed once the case moved into the Court of Common Pleas along with motions giving additional time to complete and provide defense discovery. After a continuance motion in June was granted by Judge Hammond, another motion was filed July 31, but Hammond chose instead to dismiss the charges.
