The Warren County School District Board of School Directors will meet at 6 p.m. today in the district’s Central Office as members prepare for the start of the 2026-27 school year with an agenda focused on curriculum, school safety and operational business.
Among the board's first back-to-school items are approval of bus routes and drivers for the upcoming school year, as well as new a la carte cafeteria pricing.
Curriculum proposals include revised K-5 STEM planned instruction that transitions the program to an in-house curriculum developed by district staff. According to the agenda, the change is expected to save approximately $40,000 annually.
Directors will also consider new planned instruction for Virtual Academy courses and updates to honors mathematics courses.
Also on the agenda are several three-year instructional program renewals funded through the Ready to Learn Grant, including the Second Step social-emotional learning curriculum, BrainPOP digital instructional resources, The Art of Education platform and the SMART Futures college and career readiness program.
Directors are expected to review agreements which would continue partnerships with Jamestown Community College for dual enrollment opportunities, Erie County Community College for Career Center articulation programs and local agencies that provide Student Assistance Program services for K-12 students.
School safety initiatives include renewal of the district’s Critical Response Group implementation and maintenance services, which provide emergency mapping information for first responders, and a proposal to upgrade door access controls at Eisenhower Middle High School. The project would convert two fire containment doors into secured access points separating the elementary and secondary wings while adding electronic access controls and an intercom system.
Financial and operational matters include ratification of a three-year natural gas procurement agreement with NRG Business Marketing LLC and approval of settlements in multiple tax assessment appeals.
The board will also consider authorizing an application to the Richard T. Betts Family Foundation for a $28,050 grant to purchase a handheld laser welding system for the Warren County Career Center’s welding program.
