Free Books for Kids Town is teaming up with Northwest Bank to give away books at the Warren County Fair, Saturday, Aug. 15. Ready for the big event are, from left, Free Books Founder and Director Ruby Wiles, Everett and Beatrice Miller, and their mother, Jennie Miller, Area Manager for Northwest Bank.

Saturday, Aug. 15 is Northwest Bank Day at the 95th Annual Warren County Fair in Pittsfield, and It also marks nine years that Northwest has partnered with Warren's nonprofit Free Books for Kids Town to give away books to children at the fair.

Free books will be at Northwest's sponsor booth near the Betsy Ross Park Gazebo from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., while supplies last. Distribution may end earlier if all books are claimed.

"Northwest provides the funding, and we provide the books and the knowledgeable volunteers," says Free Books Founder and Director Ruby Wiles. "We have team members with expertise in all areas from early childhood to fantasy/science fiction to history, science, and animals. We can work wonders with children who don’t like or want to read! We usually run out of books in about an hour, so come early and be patient."

There will be free books for infants through 8th graders. Included will be some of the most popular titles as well as comic books. For those who want more than one book, additional books will be available for purchase. Adults are welcome to buy books for their children, grandchildren and neighbors.

"Northwest is proud to partner with Free Books for Kids again this year at the Warren County Fair to help put books into the hands of local children and families," says Jennie S. Miller, Vice President and Area Manager of Northwest Bank. "Supporting literacy is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in our communities, opening doors to learning, opportunity, and lifelong success. We are honored to continue this tradition and look forward to seeing everyone at the fair!"
