4-H Teen Council has capital experience

Last month, the 4-H Teen Council took an educational weekend trip to Washington, D.C. Prior to the trip, the participating teen members completed monthly presentations on specific U.S. presidents.
While there, members explored monuments, toured the U.S. Capitol, and visited the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and National Air and Space Museum.The itinerary also included a stop at the Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park. For a hands-on learning experience, the members divided into small groups to research a specific monument or memorial, presenting their findings to the rest of the council.
Member Flora Bilott, also the reporter for the Warren County 4-H teen council shared, "The experience was amazing and I loved seeing the different monuments in real life. It represented leadership because we learned the history of past presidents and leaders of our nation."
Throughout the year, the group practices leadership, public speaking, and community service. Bilott shared that some examples from this year include mock interviews, how to build their resume and volunteer work with the Toys for Tots program.
