Trail of History Challenge connected to 250th anniversary

Warren County Historical Society Event Coordinator Michele Palmer, with the assistance of the Education Committee, has prepped a thought-provoking game for everyone this year. The Trail of History Challenge VI will test your knowledge of Warren County and your drive to succeed. Demonstrating a love for history, the Warren County Historical Society welcomed Palmer as the new Event Coordinator earlier this year.

Part scavenger hunt, part treasure hunt, the sixth edition of The Trail of History Challenge hosted by the Warren County Historical Society is underway. Whether you’re a history buff, explorer, or puzzle solver, this quest is designed to challenge your mind, spark your curiosity, and make learning about the past fun.

In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, this year you will seek out several locations throughout the county that have ties to the Revolutionary War period. Do you know where Revolutionary War soldiers are buried throughout the county? Or where to find artifacts from that time? Follow the clues, find each location, and complete the challenge question.

Bring family, friends, or go solo for this summer-long event. To get started, visit the Warren County Historical Society at 210 Fourth Ave., Warren, to pick up your clue packet. The $10 registration fee includes the clue packet, a Whirley-DrinkWorks! cup, and instructions for a summer full of fun.

Completed answer sheets returned by Friday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m. will be entered into a drawing for a Warren County themed prize basket that includes $100 cash from the Warren County Visitors Bureau.

The Warren County Historical Society is open Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, please call (814) 723-1795, visit www.warrenhistory.org or the society’s Facebook page or Instagram.

Clue packets also are available for purchase at the Wilder Museum at 51 Erie St. in Irvine.

Starting at $4.00/week.
