The annual Fireman’s Festival in Sheffield is loaded with family fun festivities both old and new, from July 29 through August 2.

Celebrating its 63rd year, Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Annual Fireman’s Festival.

The largest fundraiser each year, many things have been added in order to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, including Grand Prize Tickets with a chance to win up to $2,500. Purchase tickets from any SVFD member or during the festival at a cost of $5 per chance. The drawing will be held right after the fireworks on Saturday, Aug. 1.

On Wednesday, July 29, the Ladies Auxiliary Bingo will have its doors open at 5 p.m. with bingo starting at 6 p.m. The cost is $30. On Thursday, July 30, back by popular demand is the Pet Lovers Parade with registration beginning at 5 p.m., near the ball field at Memorial Park. The show starts at 6 p.m. Pre-registrations are accepted. Pets will be judged on best trick, best costume, most unique and judge’s favorite.

New this year are musical guests every day of the festival. Beginning on Thursday, July 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. will be country and rock music by Billy Mac Music. The wood carving contest is from 6 to 9 p.m. Booths, Kids Zone, and dunk tank open at 6 p.m. Sheffield Township Supervisors will be at the tank, $5 for 3 throws.

On Friday, July 31, Kids Night will begin at 7 p.m. offering several events both old and new. Kids can enjoy balloon animals by Charlie the Jester, face painting, sawdust pile and age appropriate games. There will be a free nighttime showing of Zootopia 2 at 9:15 p.m. In the case of rain, the movie will be inside the fire hall. Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase before and during the movie.

Registration for the Cornhole Tournament will be from 12 noon to 5 p.m., with games starting at 5:15 p.m. Live music from Timber and Ash will be from 6-9 p.m. Another wood carving from 6 to 9 p.m. Booths, Kids Zone, and dunk tank will open at 6 p.m. The Sheffield Boosters will be at the tank.

Roads will close at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, for the 1 p.m. parade. A patriotic theme celebrates America’s 250th birthday. Starting at Tionesta Street, the parade route follows Route 6 to the main street of Sheffield, ending at Church St. First responders, commercial floats and non-profit organizations and all others are welcome. New this year is the Firefighter Combat Challenge in lieu of the water barrel contest. Firefighters are invited to bring their gear and battle it out in a multi-station course. The challenge will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, located on Center Street. There are three divisions: solo, teams of two and citizens. Trophies will be awarded for the top three in each division. Personal protective equipment is needed for solo and team divisions: helmet, turnout coat, turnout pants, gloves and boots. If you have ever wondered what it felt like to be in fire gear, join the civilian division where fire gear will be provided. The musical guests for Saturday evening are Dark Rhythm, playing rock and roll roots from 6 to 9 p.m. Booths, Kids Zone, and dunk tanks will open after the parade. Fireworks will be held at 10 p.m. launched from Tionesta Ball Field. The Grand Prize drawing will immediately follow.

In memory of Swede Johnson, antique tractor pulls will be on Sunday, Aug. 2. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m., with pulls beginning at 11 a.m.

In addition, the “Show It Off on the Field” car show will celebrate vehicles of all kinds from classic to custom to everything in between. Registration starts at 10 a.m. and is $15 per vehicle. Located at Memorial Park in Sheffield, the show runs until 3 p.m. with awards to follow at 3:30. Pre-sale tickets are available now for the Chicken BBQ with pick up on Sunday, August 2 with pick up at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Early ticket purchases are recommended. At a cost of $15 per dinner, each will include ½ chicken, baked potato, macaroni salad, baked beans, and a roll.
