School district summer food program starts Monday

The Warren County School District (WCSD) will launch its Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Monday.

This federally funded program provides free, healthy meals and snacks to children and teens 18 years and younger at approved sites throughout the summer.

SFSP served 7,800 meals to children last year. This year, the district and its partners will offer the following SFSP sites: Beaty Warren Middle School will serve breakfast/lunch Monday through Friday from June 8-26; Warren Area Elementary Center will serve breakfast/lunch Monday through Friday from June 8 to July 31; Lacy Park and Playground, Crescent Park, and Sheffield Township Park will all serve a bag lunch Monday through Friday, June 15 to July 31. Beaty Park will serve a bag lunch Monday through Friday from July 7-31. No SFSP meals will be served June 29 – July 3, 2026, due to the holiday.

SFSP, funded by the US Department of Agriculture through reimbursements from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, provides meals without charge, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or disability, and there will be no discrimination during the meal service. Mealtimes for each site are as follows: Beaty Warren Middle School breakfast 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch 11-12:30 p.m. Warren Area Elementary Center breakfast 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch 11-12:30 p.m. The following will serve lunch only: Crescent Park 11-11:30 a.m.; Lacy Playground 11:30-12 p.m.; Sheffield Park 11:30-12 p.m. and Beaty Park 12-12:30 p.m.

Children should arrive early at participating playground sites to help staff order meals for

the day. Meals must be eaten on-site. A SFSP menu will be posted on the district website at

www.wcsdpa.org, under Menu, For Parents, Food Service, Summer Food Service Program. Please be aware that dates and times may change. The district will notify the public of changes via site signage, its website, mobile app, and the WCSD Facebook page. The WCSD is always interested in expanding the number of SFSP sites. Any organization in the area that offers summer programming for children and is interested in becoming an SFSP partner should contact Matt Jones, WCSD Coordinator of Grant & Foundation Development, at 814-723-6900.

Starting at $3.50/week.
